A Rollercoaster Ride in the Hospital: My Ongoing Battle

Chapter 1: My New Temporary Residence
It seems I've found yet another unplanned stay in the hospital.
I had hoped to be on the mend, but reality hit hard. Following my follow-up appointment regarding my pneumonia, my doctor referred me to the Emergency Room for a comprehensive evaluation. They drew a significant amount of blood and are conducting numerous tests to identify the bacteria causing my prolonged illness. So far, they’ve checked for MRSA and various infections, yet nothing has come back positive.
This morning, the pulmonologist assessed my condition and recommended a bronchoscopy for tomorrow. He mentioned that while this procedure isn’t standard for all pneumonia patients, my history of autoimmune diseases might be contributing to my ongoing health issues. The procedure is scheduled for 1:30 PM, during which I will be under moderate sedation. It should only take about 15 minutes; the doctor will perform a wash on specific areas of my lungs and extract fluids for testing. The results will take 3 to 5 days to develop, but he assured me that I could likely return home afterward if everything looks good. Both the pulmonologist and my primary doctor have noted that given my ability to converse, get up, and remain seated comfortably for extended periods, there’s no reason for me to stay longer. They’re optimistic about finding the appropriate oral antibiotics to continue my treatment once I’m discharged, even though I’ve been receiving broad-spectrum IV antibiotics since yesterday. I believe I have two more doses of my current antibiotic before I can head home—a midnight dose and another in the morning, with each infusion lasting about four hours, which gives me a small respite in between.
The first video titled "I had to go to the hospital... again." captures the experience of unexpected hospital visits and the emotional toll it takes on patients.
With everything happening, I’m yearning for a reprieve. Hospital food has lost its appeal, and I long for the comfort of my own bed beside my husband. I miss holding my not-so-little children. Even if my next few weeks consist of simply being at home with my kids, with my mom nearby to help when necessary, that would be more than enough for me. I’m not asking for extravagant things; I find joy in life’s simplest pleasures.
The second video, "In the Hospital Again...", provides an insight into the challenges faced during repeated hospitalizations and the desire to return to normalcy.
